1923 – The large 120′ turntable in the foreground routed the big locomotives into the roundhouse bays for maintenance and repairs. When Waynoka became a division point on the Santa Fe Railroad in 1910, the roundhouse was enlarged from 10 bays to 16. Each new bay was 132′ deep to accommodate the 110′ Mallet engines. 1950’s – Santa Fe’s first engine, the Cyrus K. Holliday. Checking out locomotive Number One are children of a railroader boilermaker. The engine was put into service for the Santa Fe Railroad in Topeka, KS in 1869.
